### Scribe post for Oct.09, 2008

Thursday, October 9, 2008

Today in class we continued on "The Gumball Machine" worksheet. Each table was given a cup with 10 blocks inside.(1 red, 2 Green, 3 Yellow, & 4 Blue.) We needed to select one cube randomly, tally what color it is, and put it back in the cup. We had to repeat this process untill we had reached 100 tallies!

For Homwork we are supposed to extend the tallies on the worksheet into one long one. Fill in the #5 question ( all 100 tallies). Then in question 6 we need to add up all the tallies for each catagory. After doing that you must take the number from each color put a percent sign at the end and fill it in, in question #7. For question 8 take the percents from question7 and plot them in the numberline for question 8.

We also went through the definitions of Theoretical and Experimental probability.

Theoretical Probability:is the ratio of favourable outcomes to the number of total possible outcomes (TPO's). ( Favourable/TPO)

Experimental Probability: is the ratio of favourable outcomes to the number of experiments.

Here is a video about probability:
