a) How many hours did Kristi work that week?
3 1/2 x 3/1= 21/2
=10 1/2

Kristi worked 10 and 1/2 hours in the department store.

b) How much did Kristi earn that week?
9/1 x 21/2 =189/2
=94 1/2
=$94.50

Question #2:

Jupiter completes about 2 2/5 rotations every 24 hours. How many rotations does Jupiter complete in 1 Earth week?

2 2/5 x 7/1 =
12/5 x 7/1 =84/5
=16 4/5

Jupiter completes 16 4/5 rotations around earth every week

Question #3:

A sailboat is sailing at 8 1/2 km/h. If the weather conditions and the current do not change, how far will the sailboat travel in 1 1/3 h?

8 1/2 x 11/3= 68/6
=11 1/3
The sailboat will travel 11 1/3 km

Question #4:
The distance to Grandma's house is 4/5 of the distance to Uncle Glen's house. If Uncle Glen's house is 3 1/2 hours away, how long will it take to get to Grandma's house if you travel at the same speed?

3 1/2 x 4/5 = 28/10
=2 8/10
=2 4/5

it would take 2 4/5 of an hour to get to grandma's house.

Question #5:
It takes 3/5 of a tank of gas to get to work and back each day. How much gas is used over 5 work days?

3/5 x 5/1 =15/5
=3/1
=3
it would take 3 tank's of gas every 5 work days.

Question #6:

Owen is 2 1/4 times as old as Robin. When Robin celebrates his 8th birthday, how old will Owen be?

= 18
when Robin is 8 Owen will be 18 yrs old

Pythagoras

Friday, February 27, 2009
Well Mr harbeck fell and hit his head and now he has amnesia. all he was going to teach us is gone and all he has is a few artifacts that he found in his backpack so i will try and help him remember by explaining all the diffrent artifacts and how they are connected.

well this is on of the artifacts he found, it is a statue of Pythagoras. Pythagoras was a great mathematician many years ago he created the Pythagorean theoem. he also had many other mathematical theories and that is why he is reffred to as the Father of math. Pythagoras was greek man who lived to the age of 100(really really old for people back then) and he was a vegitarien, no meat of meat related products.

this is a 90* degree angle, there is a box in the corner of the triangle to show that it is a right or 90* angle. it has 2 legs commonly labled A and B. A and B switch some times. then the longest side that is facing outward is refered to as the hypotenuse.

this is Pythagorean theoem that pythagoras invented or you can think of it as more of a discovery and less as an invention. squared=~
that theoem states that A~ +B~=C~
so imagin a big square and then fill that square with blue blocks but leave 9 spaces around the edge of the square then fill those 9 spaces with red blocks. the red is A and the blue is B and the big square is C.

now this is the last artifact that was in Mr Harbecks backpack it is a perfect square. the way you can tell it is perfect is because of those small line on the side of the faces of the square. the lines means all sides are equal, that makes it a prefect square

that is my explination on Mr Harbecks artifacts

subtracting integers

subtracting integers is not so hard
because it is just adding in reverse.

positive and negative integers

positive
beneficial, successful
gain, existent, additive
confident, helpful, loss, erase
unlucky, nonexistent, fake
subtractive, integer
negative.

Quotative

quotative division is truly easy
you highlight what is there
if you can not see it all
you may want to cut your hair.

Chapter 2

Mac: hi im a Mac

PC: hi im a PC

Mac: hey PC i need some help on some algebra questions

PC: hmm... so what is the question?

Mac: it is
n+3-5n+12

PC: ok so the answer is .......what?

Mac: i think the answer is -5n+n+15

PC: *pulls out a callculator* no its -4n+15

Mac: so where did i go wrong?

PC: you did not add the two N's

Mac: oh i see ok well ive got another question i need help with

PC: oh whats that?

Mac: the question is
2 + 4(3n+8)

PC: ok so what is the answer im a little slow with math

Mac: well i thing the answer is 2+7n+32

PC: it is but i thought you had to multiply the 4 and the 3n because there was a bracket and add the 2 to the 32 to make 34?

Mac: oh ya i ok then so the answer is 12n+34?

PC: ya i think that correct. was that all the math questions?

Mac: ya thats it for now

Mac & PC: goodbye every one and merry Christmas!

Chapter 4

jeffs integer story

Monday, October 27, 2008
Once a long long tine ago(last Monday) there was a man named Joe. Joe wanted to work at KFC and make finger licking chicken that was so finger licking that you bite your fingers off and the fingers of the guy next to you. KFC thought he looked to much like a goat but if he could solve this integer question they would hire him.

now that Joe worked at KFC he needed a home so he talked to a house sales man and the man said that he had one house left but if you can solve this integer question ill give it to you for only $100.00.

Joe was really annoyed after he solved the question and checked his wallet and only found $90.00 so Joe did not have a house. a few days after Joe was walking down a back ally and found a golden lamp so he melted it down to sell it, but as he was melting it said it would grant him one wish if he could solve an integer question.

now that Joe solved the question he wished for a house then blacked out.
