Pythagoras

Mr. Harbeck fell and he hurt his head somehow... and he needs our help to make him remember the thing he forgot...


He found his backpack and this is what he found...



This is a picture of Pythagoras. He is also known as the father of math. He discovered

that the earth goes around the sun. He found a cure for when people is sick and that is to play music. He is a Vegan. He also found the circumference of the earth. He is the one who came up with the Pythagorean theorem.















The next thing he found was a triangle... R.A.T


This is a Right Angle Triangle also known as the R.A.T. The side that makes 90 degree is called the legs. That you have to lable a and b. The hypotenuse is the C, and is the longest side of the triangle. It is always across from the little square inside the triangle.




This is What i mean....










Next is the Square.....










This is a square, all the sides are equal. There are four 90 degree angles in this shape, which equals up to 360 degrees all together. The sqaure is made up of 2 right angle triangles and those black lines on each of the side mean that it is a triangle. if it wasn't there i would mean that it is a sqaure.















Next is the Pythagorean Theorem....

Hello I am today's scribe

The first fifteen minutes of class we corrected some questions from page 43 and 44.


After that we learned how to do word problems. It's the first one on page 46.

Example One

1. Ken is thinking of a number. Nine more than the product of 4 and the number is 73. Fine Ken's number?

Ken's number is _______.

*For word problem you always have to write one simple sentence to get the mark.)


First you have to fine the constant
n = 73
next you have put the 4 by the n
4n =73

And then you add the 9
4n + 9 = 73
AND WE ARE FINISHED THE FIRST PROBLEM..... YEEYAAAH....!!!!! :)

Remember there is a TEST tomorrow and it's based on your homeworks you've done this week.... and your homework for today is to finish page 43, 44. Plus you have to do page 45 (ONLY THE EQUATIONS).

and from page 46 you have to do any 4 PROBLEMS....

and the next scribe is Spiderman.... just kidding.. or the next scribe can be Mickey Mouse... jokes never mind the real next scribe is Casey.. GOOD LUCK ON IT....( Jordan says hi to everyone and me too) Hope you enjoyed my scribe!!! :)

Chapter Two: Script





KALLY: Hey what’s Julie?

JULIE: OH nothing much, Just doing my math homework.

KALLY: Do you need some help?

JULIE: Yahh, This ALGEBRA is so hard.

KALLY: Well Let's see your paper.

JULIE: Umm... here you go... The Question is n+3-5n+12


KALLY: ohhh... i see you... you actually got the answer wrong.


JULIE: But i thought it was -6n+15.


KALLY: no... Well you are surpose to simplify it... there is no equal sign there



JULIE: Well i thought we were surpose to add them or something


KALLY: Here is how you do it.. First you have to you have to group the variables and numbers. You also have to put them in order so it will be easier.
After doing that the expression should be -5n + n + 3 + 12. ok


JULIE: Okay i think i get it


KALLY: add the numbers, and finish simplifying the question.

JULIE: Ok I'll do that

KALLY: Add the two leftover numbers, 3 and 12, we get 15. To finish answering this question, you have to add both the answer from the variables and the numbers. Then the answer comes out to -4n + 15.

JULIE : ok then on to the next question
KALLY: Well tell me what the question is?
JULIE: oh um... The next question is 2+4(3n+8).. um i think i know the answer to this question
KALLY: Well what is it
JULIE: ... uhhhhm.. the answer is 12n + 10
KALLY: you got the answer wrong agains silly..
JULIE: Well what is the answer then..
KALLY: Well you have to simplify it..plus you have to do the brackets first.
KALLY: Well first you have to multiply the 4 that is outside the brackets with the 8 inside it you will get 32 then you multily the 4 by the 3n the answer is 12. When you've done that you have to add the 2 to the 32 and as your final answer you get 12n+34.
JULIE: Well that was easy...Thank You for helping me with my math homework Kally.
KALLY: You are very welcome...

Sweky's Adventure With Santa.

In goofy land there was a girl name Sewky. She was mean to everyone. When someone is trying to be nice to her or be her friend all she will say is "go away noone wants you her". That how mean she was. Well then on day santa came to visit all the other kids. Santa alway visite Goofy town because Goofy land is close to North Pole. All the kids was having fun with santa and taking pictures. The kids got gift for being good. the only person who did't get a present was Sewky. Then Santa walked over and talk to her, but all she said was go away. she also said that no one loves her. Then Santa told her she was on the naughty list. Sweky asked Santa "why"?



Santa told her she is on the naughty list because she was being mean to everyone and not listening to her parents. Santa offered her something. She had to solve a integer question. The Sweky said "ok then i could do it". Then Santa told her the first question... It was (+9)+(-7)=??. Sewky told santa to wait. Santa waited for a long time. After a while sewky came back with a peices of paper and a pen she write all the questions down and answered it by showing herwork so she will get them right. She said " The answer to the first Question is positive 2. Then Santa



said "You are right my little darling, Very good". Then Sewky said "Thank You Santa, I really did study for this. I studied all night. I hope i do well on this". " Are you ready for the next question my darling" Santa said. "Yes Yes" Sewky said. Sewky was so exited she asked santa if he could come to goofy land evryday. Then santa told her if she gets evrything right on this test she might get that wish granted. Sewky tried her best for the next question. After Sewky and Santa had that little talk santa told Sewky the next question. The next is (+4)+(-2)=? Sweky took the next peice of paper and wrote down the next question. She tried to answer it, but it took less time than it took her to do the other question. Well the answer is mmmmm.... the answer is positive 2.



"That is right Sewky.You are getting good at this". "Here is the next question". Santa said. "Santa wait" Sweky said.Then she said "Never mind". "Well let's go onto the next question". The next question is (-6)+(+2)=?. Sewky look at her paper and said she was scard. Then santa asked her"what was wrong". Then she said " She was scard she might get it wrong.Then Santa said" Don't Worry you are going to do well. Ok the answer is... ummmm..i think it is... Negative 4. well did I get it right or what.. you did."you got that right to". Sewky was te happiest person there was on goofy land. She was so happy that she went to her parents and said sorry. She NEVER said sorry in her whole life it was a miracle. When she came back Santa asked her if she was feeling good because she was acting wierd. Sewky asked santa what the next question was... Santa took a pause and said "The next Question is (+1)+(-1)+(+2)=. Then sewky said that she never did this before but she tried. The answer is.... she did say anything at all. She keep looking at the paper and then she said the answer is..positive 2. Well,"did i get this one right". sewky asked. Yes you did. Santa said. Very well i guess i get my wish granted now..Sewky asked. Santa said" No you can't you have to study for another test for next week. the next test is going to be about Subtracting integers. Sewky said "she is going to study as hard as she can".

After Santa left sewky went ot evryone and sid sorry for hurting there feelings.

Today in class we did more about intergers. We learned it the grade 9 way. It is like Algebra but Integers.

This is on Page 45 nubers 1 to 5.

1. (-36)+(-14)+(-16)= -94

2. (-86)+(-14)+(16)= -84

(-100)+(16)= -84

3. (-3)+(-4)+(-15)= -22


4. (24)+(18)+(30)= +72


5. (-21)+(-32)+(21)= -30

(-53)+(21)= -30

This is what we did in math today... if i did something wrong please tell me.. and you have to live a lot of coments behind or else..... you all are wondering how the next SCRIBE is ............. Ummmmm... The next scribe is...................... HOLLAND !!!!! :P
