Adding Fractions





Subracting Fractions



When subracting mixed numbers, the first thing you do is turn the fractions into improper fractions. Next, you find the lowest common denominator. Once you have the LCD, subtract the numerators and keep the denominator. Lastly, you must simplify the fraction.

It takes 2 1/4 scoops of flour to make one cup? How many cakes do 15 scoops of flour make?


You could make 6 6/9 or 6 2/3 or cake with 15 scoops.



Problem 3
One day in Winnipeg with 10 1/2 hours of daylight, it was sunny for 1/3 of the time. For how many hours was it sunny that day?

It was 3 1/2 hours sunny that day.
