Hanbit's Integer Story

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away there was a princess named Lynn. Lynn was those fairytale book princesses, but always got ignored by authors and publishers because she didn't have a fancy name like Cinderella or Rapunzel. Anyways, Lynn got up one morning, got into her morning dress and went outside for a walk with her dog. After an hour, she got tired and decided to lie down in a field of grass. She looked up at the clouds and felt tired, so she took a little nap. When Lynn woke up, she found her dog gone and herself in a weird place. Everything was made out of fluffy material and it felt like she was going to fall at every step she took. When she looked down, she saw tiny buildings, and squares of fields. She noticed she was walking on clouds! Lynn screamed and expected to fall but instead something hit her leg. It was a penguin! The penguin asked her, "If you want to go back on land, you have to answer this question! What's (-8) + (-13)?" Lynn thought hard, and she suddenly thought of a number line! Lynn told the penguin that the answer was -21. "Correct!" said the penguin, and with a cloud of puffy purple smoke, he vanished. "HEY! Hey!" yelled Lynn. What was she supposed to do when the penguin didn't even keep his deal? She sighed and walked around some more. She bumped into a goose that appeared to be flying south but lost his way. "Excuse me! Sorry, but how do you get down from here?" Lynn asked. The goose honked, "I'll help you get down from here if you tell me the answer to this question. What's (-4) + (+4)?" Lynn thought of another way to answer the math question. She thought of bingo, which made her think of bingo chips, which made her think of integer chips! "I know what the answer is! It's 0!" said Lynn. The goose nodded his head and told her to hop on his back. Lynn did as he told and the goose dove down. He dove deeper, deeper and deeper. Lynn's cheeks flubbed against the wind and she screamed as the goose came to a screeching stop. The goose smiled and said, "You're welcome!" Before Lynn could say anything, he took off again to the clouds. Lynn looked around and smiled, she was so happy to be back on land. But she noticed that something was missing... her dog! She looked around and asked everyone if they saw her missing dog. One person said that she did but she would only tell Lynn where she saw her missing dog if she answered another integer question. "What's (5) + (-3) ?" Lynn was puzzled and didn't know any other strategy to use to answer the question! She thought of money and came up with this answer.. "I think the answer is +2!" exclaimed Lynn, hoping to be right. The person nodded her head and smiled. "Your dog is somewhere inside a building that has a big H on it. That's all." The person replied, and brushed past her. Lynn sighed and looked around for a building that had a big H. She gave up hope and asked people where she could find a building with a big H on it. One person said there was no such building. Another person said that it was far, far away. At last, there was a person who could help her. His name was Prince. "I know where you can that building, but first you have to answer my question. What's (2) + (+7) + (-2)?" Lynn laughed because she thought it was such an easy question that she didn't even need to use any strategy at all!Prince showed her the way and led her inside the building. Lynn heard a dog bark and ran to every room to find her dog! When she finally did, Prince blocked her way. "Move man!" Lynn yelled, desperate to go home with her dog but Prince shook his head. Prince told her that the dog belonged to him, not her and that she couldn't go home with it. Lynn couldn't believe her ears, and all the trouble she went through just for this! Prince smiled evilly and told Lynn to go home without the dog but she wasn't the type of princess who could just easily buy another dog. She was someone who didn't go down without a fight!

TO BE CONTINUED :)
CONTINUATION ..

Lynn yelled at Prince, throwing a shoe at his face. But Prince didn't even move, he just stayed at the exact same spot for hours and hours. Finally Lynn got tired and wanted to just go home. "Eh, who needs a dog anyways? I have lots more at home." Lynn said and turned around. Before she even took one step, Prince coughed loudly. "Sooooo... You don't want your dog anymore?" Lynn just shook her head and walked to the doorway of the building. She heard her dog bark but she pretended not to care, when inside, she really wanted her dog back. Prince grunted and said, "What if... I'll give him back to you?" Lynn raised her eyebrows and turned her head. "BUT... You have to answer a really tricky question and I'll give the dog back to you." Lynn laughed and rolled her eyes. "Whatever, I can do this!" Prince laughed back at her, "Then what's (+6) - (-4) =?" Lynn's eyes went really big. She never learned how to subtract integers! She panicked and her eyes looked as if they were about to pop out of her socket. Lynn thought hard, and remembered how she solved the other questions, with integer chips! So she decided to use them again and it looked like this...

"The answer is.. +10, right?" Lynn said. Prince looked BEWILDERED, he was flabbergasted, he was shocked and amazed! He didn't know what to say, but he was very pleased that Lynn got the question right because he was actually scared of dogs. Prince nodded his head so many times that Lynn thought it was going to roll of his neck. She scoffed and remarked, "I told you. I'm just smart." She took her dog and walked out of the building. But the Prince was too surprised that he didn't want Lynn to leave! "WAIT!" He was going to yell her name, but then, he remembered that they didn't even know each other's names! Prince just ran after her, out onto the busy streets. He looked around but couldn't find Lynn anywhere! Little did he know that Lynn was behind behind a trash can that was in the alley of the building. She laughed quietly, but her dog barked so loud that it echoed through the trash cans and out to Prince's ear. Prince spun around and smiled, when he spot the Lynn who was squashed between a garbage can, and a dog. Lynn rolled her eyes and stood up, asking, "What do you want?" Prince smiled and said, "Since you're an unknown princess and I'm a very famous prince that's known in EVERY fairytale, you'll become a very famous princess! So... why don't you marry me?" Lynn stood there, too shocked to say anything. "Excuse me? ME? AN UNKNOWN PRINCESS?! Pfft, and what fairy tales are you mentioned in?" Lynn asked. Prince laughed like he was proud and replied, "In every one of them. Like, Cinderella, my name was mentioned and in Rap-" Lynn waved her arms in front of him, motioning for him to stop talking. "Whatever. If you want to marry me so bad, you have to answer a question. It's going to be the hardest one ever. What's (+2) - (-5) + (+5) - (-2)?" Prince scoffed, "That's the EASIEST one ever." He was a very smart prince and thought that if there were 2 uh-ohs beside each other, you have to replace them with 2 plus signs. In his head, his thought process looked like this..."The answer is +14! Now, will you marry me? We can end this story with a 'happily ever after!'!" remarked Prince, anxious for her to be his wife. "That's... right. I think.." sighed Lynn, she didn't even want to be his wife! She didn't even want to marry! She sadly nodded yes, and walked away with her dog. Prince and Lynn married a week after that. She didn't know what kind of person Prince was! He was so nice to her, and he understood her. Lynn was happy, and so was Prince! Lynn was also happy because what Prince said was true! Lynn actually did become a very famous princess. A story was written about her, but not a normal prince rescues princess kind of fairytale. It was called Hanbit's Integer Story! Anyways, they both lived happily ever after.
